2024 Women Build Family
Martha Rebollar
After years of dreaming big and facing tough times head-on, Martha and her family are about to make those dreams come true with their very own Habitat house. It’s been quite the ride, especially juggling her mom’s health issues and the bills that come with it, but the thought of owning a home—that light at the end of the tunnel—gave Martha a huge sense of relief and excitement.
The family has spent a decade in their apartment, a place packed with memories of good times, hard times, and everything in between. With their Habitat house on the horizon, Martha’s picturing a neighborhood that feels like family, where folks look out for each other, even over the little things like an unturned car light or a sick pet.
Martha can hardly wait for the day her family walks through the door of their new Habitat home. She’s already dreaming of family get-togethers, her grandson’s giggles filling the backyard, and all the wonderful memories they’re going to make there. It’s going to be a place where love, security, and family history are built to last.
In her new neighborhood, Martha wants to pay it forward. She’s all about lending a hand, cheering on her neighbors, and being part of a community that lifts each other up. Martha’s story is all about pushing through, holding onto hope, and the amazing things that can happen when people come together to make dreams a reality. The house they’re about to call home is more than just walls and a roof—it’s a symbol of their perseverance, the helping hand of amazing groups like Habitat, and the power of community and dreams turning into the place you hang your hat.
Martha’s story is just one example of the incredible impact that Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity has on families and communities around the world. With a mission to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for all, Habitat works tirelessly to help families achieve their dream of homeownership.
