Global Engagement

Habitat may work around the corner from you, but we also work across the U.S. and around the world. With over 1.5 billion people, one-fourth of the total population, living on less than $2 a day in substandard housing, the need can seem overwhelming.
Habitat for Humanity International’s work spans more than 80 countries building more than 60,000 homes each year internationally, and has provided housing solutions to over 1.5 million families.
Dallas Habitat supports this work through our Global Impact Fund/Tithe and Global Village Trips.

Global Village Trips

Global Village trips offer more than just the opportunity to swing a hammer. You will experience the country like a local, with the locals. Meet people from around the world with all different kinds of backgrounds, races, and religions.

These trips provide various opportunities depending on your area of interest, including building one house or many houses at a time, advocating for policy while building, disaster recovery, minor and major home repairs, energy efficiency projects, working with vulnerable populations like children or the disabled, and trips just for women.

Your participation in one of these trips helps support Habitat’s ongoing homebuilding efforts. While your personal trip may last for a week or more, your financial, emotional, and physical contributions can be life-changing for both those in the communities where you work and in your own life for years to come.

COVID-19 Impact on Global Village builds

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to all parts of society, Habitat for Humanity included. Habitat for Humanity’s top priority is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, partners, and the people we serve and, as such, Habitat is suspending all Global Village volunteer builds through spring 2021.

Beginning in spring 2021, Habitat for Humanity International expects to post information about a limited number of Global Village builds available for registration. Even though Global Village builds have paused, the work to determine how to safely get volunteers back to build sites that need them has continued. New precautions and guidelines will be implemented when builds resume.
