Meet the Green Family

Meet the woman who brags about her neighbors as more than “people you can borrow a cup of sugar from” and reasons why we continue to build.

My Celebration. Our Celebration

Is what Ms. Green exclaimed when she described what it was like to own her a home. “Our life. Our love. Our legacy” she said as she gazed at her three young children. The Green family currently resides in a home built during the ‘Blitz Build’ in Joppa Texas. Established by Habitat for Humanity, the Blitz Build took place over five days, 3,000+ volunteers with a lofty goal of building 13 affordable homes for families like the Greens, and to establish a functional, safe and active community in a timeworn neighborhood. In addition to building homes, Habitat for Humanity has repaired and restored over 150 homes in the Green family neighborhood.

Ms. Green describes her community as “not the typical can I borrow a cup of sugar, but actual friendships”. A sentiment that we find to be the most brag worthy. At Habitat, we are about building a community, not building homes.
