Our Partner Communities

East Oak Cliff

Dallas Habitat has partnered with East Oak Cliff since 2006, building alongside the Oak Cliff Gardens community for two decades. In 2014, President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter joined hundreds of volunteers to build 30 homes there in a single week — one chapter in a longer partnership that has now resulted in more than 100 homes built and restored. We continue that work today through new construction and home repairs that help families stay rooted in the neighborhood they call home.

Our Partner Communities

Fair Park

Fair Park’s Frazier Courtyard is home to some of the first energy-efficient homes Habitat for Humanity International built anywhere in the country. In partnership with the Dallas Sustainable Skylines Initiative in 2010, we constructed 40 LEED Silver–certified homes in Fair Park, resulting in lower utility bills and mortgage payments for homeowners. Today, we’re building on that legacy, bringing quality, affordable homeownership to more individuals and families in this neighborhood.

Our Partner Communities

Hamilton Park

Built in the early 1950s, Hamilton Park was one of the first planned communities in the South created by and for Black families, complete with its own schools, churches, and parks. Dallas Habitat is investing in this community’s next chapter, partnering with residents on home repairs and new pathways to affordable homeownership that help this historic neighborhood continue to thrive.

Our Partner Communities

Joppa

Since 2006, we are proud to have built alongside and partnered with the historic Joppa community of Dallas, a neighborhood founded as a Freedman’s town in 1872. To date, we’ve constructed more than 100 homes in Joppa and have plans to build, repair, and rehabilitate even more in the coming months. Through thoughtful, sustainable design and ongoing community investment, our work strengthens neighborhood connectivity while honoring the legacy of this vibrant community.

Our Partner Communities

Mill City

Dallas Habitat is celebrating over 20 years of building in the Mill City community. Guided by our strong belief in the power of public-private development partnerships to expand access to affordable homeownership, we’re participating in a joint venture with Good Urban Development and Matthews Southwest to help establish a connected neighborhood that blends mixed-income housing, commercial space, and green space. This development supports sustainable growth, walkability, and long-term community stability, while expanding access to quality, affordable housing.

Our Partner Communities

Richardson

Dallas Habitat is partnering with the city to turn a long-vacant lot on Vernet Street into a new affordable home — our first home construction in the Northrich neighborhood — opening the door to more opportunities for local families to become homeowners close to where they already live and work.

Our Partner Communities

Wheatland Plaza

Our upcoming development at Wheatland Plaza in Duncanville will transform an underused parking lot into a vibrant mix of modern, affordable townhomes alongside a revitalized retail center. This project will increase housing options, improve walkability, and strengthen community connections — supporting both residential life and local business growth to create a more livable, connected neighborhood.
