What is North Texas Giving Day?
North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour celebration of generosity that brings thousands of North Texans together to support the nonprofits making our region stronger. Hosted by Communities Foundation of Texas, this year’s event takes place on September 17, with early giving beginning August 27 so you can make your impact even sooner.

Every day, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity works to close that gap — through home construction, financial education and counseling, and zero-interest mortgages that help hard-working families build stability, security, and self-reliance.

Trenesha J. — Fellows Lane | Joppa
After moving to Dallas in 2019 following the loss of both her parents, Trenesha J. has built a life centered on growth and compassion, working as an ISS Administrator and Quality Assurance Specialist for a mental health provider. Inspired by other families’ Habitat stories, Trenesha discovered the program was open to individuals, not just families with children, and found the process empowering every step of the way. For her, it’s about more than a house — it’s a legacy her nieces and nephews can look up to.

Julian O. — Frank Street | Fair Park
At just 24, Julian O. is building a stable future for his growing family: one-year-old daughter Azalea and fiancée Abigail. A lifelong Dallas resident working in youth recreation and food service, Julian learned about Dallas Habitat from family members who’d completed the program themselves — and decided it was time to start the journey. What surprised him most was how supported the process felt every step of the way. Now, as they prepare to move into their Habitat home, Julian and Abigail are ready to put down roots and give their daughter something every child deserves: a place she can proudly call home.

Alfred W. — Brownsville Avenue | Joppa
A proud Army veteran who served in Korea from 1970–1971, Alfred W. brought that same service and integrity into a career spanning nearly two decades with the U.S. Postal Service and over a decade at the VA Hospital. After years of financial hardship, Alfred rebuilt his credit through persistence and determination, dreaming of a home with more space for his wife Janice, their grandchildren, and his granddaughter’s education. Dallas Habitat gave him a path there — from credit counseling to financial education to step-by-step guidance — and the confidence to walk through the process knowing it was, in his words, “just a matter of finances and keeping everything straight.”
