Dallas Habitat’s NeighborCare & Repair Program is here to support homeowners by providing critical home repairs that improve safety, comfort, and overall quality of life. Our goal is to help individuals and families remain in the homes they love, while preserving the strength and affordability of the neighborhoods we serve.

This program offers free or low-cost repairs to eligible homeowners through a simple application process. If you live in one of the neighborhoods where Dallas Habitat builds, you may qualify for assistance.

Understand Your Eligibility for Our NeighborCare & Repair Program

To get started, you’ll need to meet some basic requirements. These include:

• Being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Home must be owner-occupied for at least 1 year.
• Must live in our service area
• Must be current on mortgage
• Must have current home insurance policy

You’ll also need to fall within 80% or less of HUD’s Area Median Income (AMI) guidelines. Use the chart below to see where your household fits.

What are the qualifications for the NeighborCare & Repair Program?

In order to qualify, the applicant must:

What repairs can Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity help with?

The NeighborCare & Repair program is designed to assist with minor repairs, accessibility accommodations, and beautification projects. This can include exterior repairs to siding, adding ramps and handrails, and landscaping or painting.

What documents do I need to submit with my application?

For your application to be reviewed, the following documents are required:

  • Two forms of identification

  • Proof of homeownership

  • Previous 2 months worth of income verification

  • Verification of active Homeowner’s Insurance policy

  • Tax Receipt

What are the program fees?

Our program is 100% free for qualified applicants!

What is the timeline for the program?

The required time to complete repairs can vary greatly between projects, so we are unable to provide an estimate at this time. Please note we do not offer emergency repair services.
