A Home for the Holidays: The Acouetey Family’s Story
For the Acouetey family, this holiday season shines a little brighter. After years of renting a small apartment and dreaming of more space and stability, Foly, his wife Dondam, and their daughter Ayele are finally celebrating the season in a home they can truly call their own.
Foly’s journey began in Togo, West Africa, where he was drawn to the promise of new opportunities in America. Since moving to Dallas in 2013, he has worked tirelessly to provide for his family but the path to homeownership always seemed out of reach.
That changed when Foly partnered with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, whose programs empower hardworking families to build strength and stability through affordable homeownership. With the guidance of his Habitat counselor and the support of donors and volunteers, Foly completed the Homeownership Program and received the keys to his new home this year.
Now, instead of worrying about rent increases or crowded living spaces, the Acoueteys can focus on what matters most, time together. This holiday season, they’re filling their new home with laughter, warmth, and gratitude.
